At Happy Hen Farm, we raise our heritage pigs on pasture and in wooded areas of our farm to take advantage of the natural Vitamin D in the sunshine, and shade and acorns that our trees provide. Our heritage breed Duroc, Berkshire, and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs root up grubs and wallow around in the grass and dirt and just act like pigs every day of their lives. We feed them a high quality, non-GMO feed that is locally sourced and milled. We do not give any animal that we sell antibiotics or hormones. They are raised naturally, sustainably, and humanely on our farm.
We produce high quality pastured pork products ranging from breakfast sausage to thick cut bone-in pork chops to Boston Butts ready to slow cook on the grill. Our nitrate free thick cut bacon is a huge seller and is often wait listed because it is so delicious. The care that we put into our animals, their care and their food, definitely is evident in the finished product.
Our pork is locally processed at a USDA inspected and Animal Welfare certified facility where it is vacuum sealed and flash frozen. Using a local facility reduces the stress put on our animals by travel, supports local business, and reduces our product's carbon footprint.
